Tewodros House is under the steady influence of Asnakech Sentayehu. Asnakech is a quiet woman who enjoys her children over the company of most anyone else. That's a good thing! Asnakech was so happy to be selected after training and had the most to learn of all of our mothers. She was open and worked hard to be selected for becoming a Selamta mother. Her house is humming now and she is truly stepping up to her lifetime commitment to her children.
Asnakech has the house of strong personalities, that is for sure. Her oldest, Nati, is Selamta's star soccer player and thinks of little else. He has been selected for the Addis Ababa all city leauge and Asnakech could not be more proud, but cautious. She reminds him of the good grades or no play rule often and it seems to be working. Nati has a strong respect for his mom and never let's Asnakech carry anything too heavy. He is a strong older brother to Telila, Hailu and Yohanes but does not get to involved with "girl stuff" that his sisters like.
Hailu has been the number one student in his class for two years in a row and Telila is not far behind. Telila has made a ton of friends at school while Hailu still considers some of the Selamta kids his favorite buddies. Both boys love to draw and would prefer to watch their older brother play soccer rather than play themselves.
Yohanes is allllllll-boy and is often coming home a bit late, a bit dirty and a bit out of breath. He is an easy going and charming addition to this family and boy, can he dance!
Beemnet and Etenat are very close as sisters, but very different indeed. Beemnet is the strong willed, smart, sassy and independent daughter who gets along wonderfully with her mom. Etenat is smart, shy, thoughtful, sometimes giggly but often quiet daughter who also gets along wonderfully with her mom. Both girls love to dance, dance and dance some more.
Mekdes is the oldest girl and she had the most trouble fitting into a family setting at first. On her own for so long, Mekdes was fiercely independent and had to learn to trust that the family would always be there for her. Asnakech is so proud of the long way that Mekdes has come and loves her daughter because of the struggle. Mekdes is working extra hard at school, loves her family and would like to work at Selamta as a mother when she is older. No that is progress. This family has a lots and lots of reasons to be proud!
