Menelik House

Menelik House

We could not be happier with Wede Negerew as a Selamta mother. Wude worked hard to become part of Selamta and then became a favorite with the children, especially the younger kids. She is calm when they are excited, proud when they excel and quietly loving through every emotion. Wude has become a leader among the mothers and is encouraging us all to start a small grocery store to supplement every families diet and income. She is a strong and bright woman that we truly appreciate.

Wude has a house is full of bright pennies. Bethlehem is her oldest and she sure does love her mom. They chat after school, making dinner and putting the younger kids to bed.

Betti is a tall, beautiful and highly motivated young lady. She has scores of friends and loves to play soccer on Saturday mornings. Her little sisters, Tigist and Kaldidan, look up to her big time.

Tigist is a super star at school and received top of her class honors again this year. She is all girl and loves to play, dance, sing and draw.

Kalkidan is also a sweet girl, shy but with a million dollar smile. Kalkidan loves to dance, sing and draw, but mostly she loves swimming. She is a fish!

Wude has a house full of boy energy with Eyob, Yohanes, Robel, Chernet and Temesgen pulling up to the table everynight.

Eyob is Wude's biological son and really takes after her with his bright smile, friendly demeanor and easy going nature. When playing soccer, running around outside and rough housing with his brothers, the similarity stops!

Yohanes is a handsome, quiet guy who loves school. He is not one to be out in front but rather on the sidelines enjoying the show.

Robel can often be found talking and watching t.v. with Yohanes, but he can more often be found outside, cutting it up with his friends. Robel does well in school but prefers sports.

Chernet, on the other hand, thinks that school is the best thing in his life and works hard to be a good student. Chernet is a boy's boy and yet, loves to help his mom out around the house too. He and younger brother Temesgen work on their homework first thing after school and it shows. Temesgen has been at the top of his class for two years in a row! Temesgen has the smile of the century, is so fun to be around and is generally just a love. All five boys get along famously (thank God!). This house is humming with energy and love and the medals on the wall prove they are all off to a great future.
